(flying surfboards)
We just got back from a weekend surf trip to La Ticla. Pato really needed some quality surf time, so early friday we organized the trip and set off mid-day. Things started off pretty bad when two hours south of Vallarta, the surfboards tied to my xterra roof-rack came loose, breaking the built-in racks and sending the boards flying. 4 boards, of varying degrees of damage, mostly to the tail sections. My Al Merrick Flyer II swallow tail? One of the tips was cut entirely through the foam, leaving it hanging by the fiberglass. ouch. This is the second time this has happened. And more surprising, considering that the racks for the xterra seemed to be so sturdy, but in all actuality, suck big time. After we assessed the damage and recovered from shell-shock, we continued on to La Ticla to meet the rest of our group who were coming from Guadalajara with replacement boards for us. thank goddess.
The rest of the weekend was great. Not the biggest swell, but Saturday we surfed in steady 6 to 7 footers. By Sunday, what little swell there was started to drop off and waves came in less consistently at 4-5 feet. Not too bad, though, we all enjoined the trip. it was Marcia’s first time camping and she was a total champ.
More pictures and happier stories to come soon.

Dang man that sucks, 2 times!!!! Sorry to hear, hope the upcoming surf is good.
